16-year-old Frankie Antonelli is a big fan of Darius Rucker. In fact, he’s been performing Darius’ songs in school talent shows since he was in the 5th grade. Frankie also has Down syndrome – and according to his mom, Debbie, “He’s happy, he’s healthy, he’s athletic… he is sweet and he is handsome. He just happens to have Down syndrome. It doesn’t define who he is. He is uninhibited and he loves to perform.”
Frankie got quite the surprise recently at his Wando High School talent show when his idol joined him on stage mid-song to sing with him! Frankie was performing “We Still Got Time” (with some fun dance moves!) when suddenly Darius walks on stage to back him up! Check out the video HERE — specifically around the 3:12 mark when Darius steps in.
The sweetest part about the whole thing is that Darius didn’t upstage him at all—he made sure Frankie had the spotlight, letting him sing most of the song by himself. Yes, the video quality is a bit grainy and the sound’s not the best, but it’s definitely worth watching… Especially the end when Darius gives him a big ol’ bear hug.

Note: Here’s a link to a better quality video of the performance; although it doesn’t capture the first part of Frankie’s performance like the other one does.
