Andie Summers celebrates 10 years with XTU. Her career began in Bloomsburg, PA, a great place to pay your dues.
In Philadelphia, Andie first provided news and traffic but XTU listeners immediately fell for her and she was signed for mornings. Andie is always in the thick of it, whether it's switching jobs with a listener, taking a busload into NYC for a Today Show concert or reporting live from a Red Carpet.
During football season, Andie hosts Eagles Primetime Live, a weekly, hour-long call-in talk show with Eagles players David Akers, A.J. Feeley and Kevin Curtis. She's also Captain of the station's team in the Philadelphia Breast Cancer 3-Day. Chief fund-raiser for the past four years, she's raised more than $350,000 for the cause.
Andie and husband, Leonard, are the proud parents of toddler, Victoria.
MEET ANDIE!
The song that makes me happy is… I’m the son of a third generation farmer … Craig Morgan International Harvester The quintessential country song – it talks about living a simple, hard working life and being proud of it... and you’ve got to play it LOUD
The first album I ever bought was… Sesame Street Fever. It has a picture of Grover dressed as John Travolta. Good stuff.
My favorite DVD is… the complete set of The Muppet Show! My proudest moment as a mom was when Victoria asked me to play a muppet DVD.
The biggest moment in my career was… when I got to talk to Kermit the Frog on the phone. I cried!
My favorite time of year is… fall. Corn stalks and hay bails, pumpkin pie, turkey and stuffing with cranberry sauce … that means it’s time to pack on the pounds for winter!
My favorite road trip pit stop is… Waffle House! When my husband and I took a road trip to Nashville, I swear we stopped and ate at every Waffle House along the way. That was the best vacation I think I’ve ever been on.
The first thing I do every morning is… look in my video monitor at Victoria sleeping. I swear I could watch that all day.
I like spending a Saturday night… cuddled up on the sofa w/ Leonard and Tori watching a movie. We specifically bought a deep couch so we could all fit!
The thing I love to eat but shouldn’t is… General Tso’s Chicken. I truly can’t stop eating it until it’s gone.
The best gift I ever received was… My first Mother’s Day my amazingly creative and loving husband took me to NYC to get my hair done by Nick Arrojo from one of my favorite shows What Not to Wear. Nick is amazing... and now, so is my hair!
