Whether it's a family member, a co-worker, or your own experience, you'd be hard-pressed to find an individual that has not had their life affected by this disease. It does not discriminate based on age, economic status, religion, or race.

40,000 die of breast cancer every year in the U.S. Susan G. Komen Philadelphia leads the fight in raising funds for the research and programs that increase the length and quality of life for those stricken with cancer.
If you've never experienced a Race for the Cure, however, you might be surprised by the tone of the event. It is, to summarize, joyful. Optimistic. Hopeful. These women are survivors, and they are celebrated as such. Costumes are encouraged, spectators are eagerly invited, and it is a day to feel alive and grateful for our experiences...especially as one family in the fight against breast cancer.
