According to Saving Country Music, Mike Kennedy died in a car crash near Nashville on August 31.
It is not yet known what caused the crash, but we do know two other vehicles were involved.
Kennedy's vehicle reportedly hit a tractor trailer and then a pickup truck.
It is not clear if the other two drivers were injured during the accident, but Kennedy was the only fatality.
Prior to his death, he had performed with Strait since 1983.
At this time, Strait has not publicly addressed the heartbreaking loss.
