School Getting Rid Of Homecoming Queen
A Michigan high school has decided to stop crowning homecoming queens amid bullying issues
Chelsea High School has decided to forgo the homecoming queen and king title in order to eliminate bullying issues. Staff and students agreed the annual competition left girls bullied and feelings hurt.
While some students are disappointed about the change, others are excited for the replacement awards which will be awarded by the school based on students' academic, social, and emotional attributes.
However, Chelsea High School is not the first to do this. Penn State University replaced their Homecoming King and Queen titles, with "Guide State Forward Award".
