Brunch With Brian: Royal Tavern
A few weeks ago, JJ Scordo who is one of our fill-in personalities on 925XTU sent me a link of “The Best Brunch Spots in 32 Philly Neighborhoods” according to Thrillist, so I decided to check one of those places out.
The Royal Tavern is in the Bella Vista section of South Philly on Passyunk Avenue which has been a favorite neighborhood bar for the past 17 years.
In addition to a trendy drink list, the Royal Tavern offers a full menu, including lots of vegan options until 1 am everyday.
On Saturday & Sunday from 10am-4pm they feature a “brunch menu” from “sweet” like their Bacon & Brie Pancakes, to savory fare such as their “Tater Tot Scramble.”
I decided to shake up my brunch routine and get myself a Fried Chicken Eggs Benedict.
The kitchen crew at the Royal Tavern did it right. It’s two poached eggs on top of a fried chicken breast and country ham on top of a buttermilk biscuit. The combination of flavors were nothing short of amazing.
So if you’re in the Bella Vista neighborhood, grab a few friends and check out Royal Tavern where they have something for everyone.

It may look small but it’s a nice neighborhood bar in South Philly
A wide variety on the menu, including vegan options.
Even though it looks light, it does get packed as the day goes on.
A good place to meet with your friends.
