What better way is there to celebrate National Fried Chicken Day than indulging in some crispy fried bird at some top local spots?
I pride myself on being a somewhat amateur fried chicken aficionado. And Philly and the suburbs are stacked high with great joints to get your fried fix.
Let me know if you know of a good place for fried chicken! (These are just a few of the great restaurants for fried chicken, let me know of your favorite place if it's not on my list!)
- Bud & Marilyn's - 1234 Locust St, Phila - This is some of the best fried chicken I've ever had in the city. Crispy, juicy and perfect.
- Federal Donuts - Several locations - Donuts are in the name, but the fried chicken is equally as beautiful.
- Rex 1516 - 1516 South Street, Phila - The whole menu at Rex 1516 is southern-inspired, and they do fried chicken well. If you dare, ask for their Nashville Hot Chicken, it's not on the menu and it's HOT!
- Treesy's Soul Food Cafe - 6 Shoppers Lane, Turnersville, NJ - Treesy's satisfies all of your comfort food needs. Including fried chicken. And they have a buffet on Sunday's...
- Royal Farms - Several locations - Do not. I repeat, do not knock gas station fried chicken. Having grown up in the South, if you didn't at least *start* selling your fried chicken in a podunk gas station somewhere, well then you're really not authentic. Royal Farms is legit.
