I’m back at it after a weekend off with another brunch place, this time in the Pennsport section of Philly called “The Dutch” at the corner of 4th & Cross Streets.
Co-owned by Joncarl Lachman & Lee Styer, the chefs of the resturants “Fond” & “Noord”, “The Dutch” is an awesome bruncherie that pulls inspiration from the owners heritages with Pennsylvania German/Dutch cooking.
As you enter the dining room, you’ll find “The Dutch” has a cozy and casual atmosphere with an open kitchen where they create their siganture dishes.
One of the creations they’re famous for are their “Dutch Babies” which is a big and thick pancake in a cast iron skillet. You can get it sweet with lemon & fruit, or savory with smoked sausage and scallions.
This week I went traditional and had “steak and eggs” with truffle mushrooms and chimichrrui which was amazing. I also had a pancake (one is enough) which was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
So if you’re South Philly and you’re looking for something different brunch wise, come on down and do “The Dutch” this weekend.
