Garth Brooks will be presented with the first George H.W. Bush “Points of Light” Award for caring and compassion.
The Points of Light organization posted to Instagram, “What we celebrate is a reflection of what we value. As we launch The George H.W. Bush Points of Light Awards, we are so pleased to celebrate @GarthBrooks with the inaugural award for caring and compassion. Dedicated to improving humanity, Mr. Brooks is co-founder of the innovative @TeammatesforKids, helping to generate funds for children’s charities focused on health, education and inner-city outreach. And, alongside his wife Trisha Yearwood, he has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity for more than a decade.”
Brooks reacted on Instagram just an hour ago writing, “The fact that this award is a reflection of 41, his beloved Barbara, and the work they believed in is the greatest honor. An award is only as good as its recipient — my hope and goal is to make the Bush family and the Honorary Chairs proud that Garth Brooks is the first name on this award for caring and compassion.” – Garth Brooks
