Snow Days to Become Flex Days
Although we are still a few months away from winter the school year is starting up. Which has us wondering how you feel about snow days possibly becoming a thing of the past.
Back in July, Pennsylvania’s Governor Tom Wolf signed a bill that allows Pennsylvania school students to work from home during a snow day. The new law gives school districts the ability to turn what we currently know as snow days into “flexible instructional days”.
Each school district would need to have their plans for these “flex days” approved by the state. These plans would include information on how students and employees can use computers, iPads, and various technology to participate in the “school day”. They will also be required to plan lessons for students and employees who don’t have access to technology or the internet. However, that plan is unclear.
Is this a good idea for school districts?
