Miss Pennsylvania, Tiffany Seitz, was Given Two Weeks to Live When She Was Born
Tiffany Seitz is the reigning Miss Pennslyvania and competed Thursday for the Miss America crown. Although she did not win she told PEOPLE, “Regardless of what the results [of Miss America are], the fact that I’ve made it this far with how I began is really an accomplishment in and of itself. I’m really, really happy to be here.”
Seitz is happy to be here, because when she was born, she was born addicted to cocaine and doctors predicted she wouldn’t live past two weeks.
Born in Pittsburgh in August 1995, she wasn’t given the treatment she needed, but was on the streets while her mother was out prostituting for money and therefore doctors said if she made it past two weeks they didn’t think she’d make it past her first birthday.
When Seitz was a few months old she was found a home with a foster family from Freeport, Pennslyvania, whom would later adopt her when she was 2 1/2.
Seitz told PEOPLE, “I’m so grateful that my parents have given me so much, opportunities that I wouldn’t have had had it not been for the gift of adoption,” she says. “I hope my story will inspire other people to consider doing the same thing.”
The physical and mental challenges doctors thought Tiffany might face never developed and in 2017 she graduated from Grove City College with a degree in entrepreneurship and in 2019, was crowned Miss Pennsylvania.
When the 23 year-old is not fulfilling duties for Miss Pennsylvania she teaches dance. She lives in Freeport with Lori, Len, and an older foster brother.
