How Expired Is Too Expired?

I was going through the "extra" pantry in the house and found some older items.  Canned foods, pasta and this box of quick bread.  The "Best if Used by" date is from December 2018.  That brings up the question - is is expired or is it just that it would be best if it was used by the suggested date?  When is expired too expired?  I've used cans that have expired dates and I lived to tell about it.  Would you use a product past the "Best if Used by" date?  So many questions, but the only important answer is, who wants make me chocolate chip bread?
