This was a discussion among friends recently.  Is the "Use By Date" a suggestion or a deadline?  There are many opinions on this and some people say no - don't do it.  Then there are those that think there are foods that are fine well past that date stamp.  Bustle made a list of 10 foods that you don't have to toss just because the date has passed.  Some are common sense and then there are a few surprises. How daring would you be?

  • Cheese. Harder cheeses last up to a month after the expiration.
  • Cereal. It lasts for months after the date.
  • Pasta. Dry pasta lasts up to three years.
  • Yogurt. It’s okay one to two weeks past the date
