The Free Library Of Philadelphia has recently announced that they are eliminating overdue fees and will no longer charge patrons for overdue materials.
They also cleared all existing overdue fines from patrons’ library cards. The library has been working to eliminate fines for over two years.
Representatives from The Free Library told Patch that removing the fees will bring people and materials back to their doors, creating a more welcoming Free Library and moving them closer to achieving their mission of advancing literacy, guiding learning and advancing curiosity.
