With everyone being scared of the Coronavirus and stores being sold out of almost all cleaning products, here's a way to make your own!

1. Plain vodka (a cheap brand is fine!)

5. Other essential oils of your choice. Lavender and peppermint also make a great combo, if the scent of tea tree oil is too strong.

6. Small 1-2 oz bottle. Both toxin-free plastic squeeze bottles or plastic or glass spray bottles work well. The hand sanitizer mixture is thin enough to be sprayed, though it will come out in more of a stream.

Here's another recipe:

  • The active ingredient in hand sanitizer is something most people already have in their bathrooms: rubbing alcohol, says Dr. David Agus. Combine 2/3 cup rubbing alcohol with 1/3 cup aloe vera gel. Adding several drops of essential oil will make it smell better, but it's not necessary, Agus says. Then mix it up and it's ready.
  • While hand sanitizer doesn't kill all viruses, it's been proven to be effective against the coronavirus, Agus says.
