The Dixie Chicks have changed their name to "The Chicks." In a statement shared by Entertainment Weekly, they said, "We want to meet the moment."

The trio's new album Gaslighter will be out on July 17, under there new moniker "The Chicks."

There is another band called The Chicks, but he two groups have agreed to share the same name. “A sincere and heartfelt thank you goes out to ‘The Chicks’ of NZ for their gracious gesture in allowing us to share their name," the former Dixie Chicks said. "We are honored to co-exist together in the world with these exceptionally talented sisters."

This is a bit of a contrast from Lady Antebellum, who recently changed their name to Lady A because of the slavery history tied to the name Antebellum. Some fans are postulating that the Dixie Chicks changed their name for a similar reason.

The Chicks have also released a new song and video, "March March."
