Maren Morris gave birth to her first child, son Hayes, right around the time that the pandemic started in America.

While she expected to take the new baby on tour this summer that didn't pan out as all music tours were canceled due to COVID-19, so she spent her time with her husband and the new baby.

Now that we're getting into fall, Maren is just getting back to creating music. She told us, "I just now in the last couple of weeks had the bandwidth mentally to write again. You know, those first few months you have a kid, a newborn, there were no songs coming up to me, I didn’t have any space for it. He’s old enough now to be without us for a couple of hours and we’ll leave him with grandparents or something. It’s hard being away from him, but it’s nice to come home to a baby after you’ve like written a song that you love."

She adds, "I haven’t been feeling very creative, especially in quarantine, it’s just like such tunnel vision every day, but now I’m starting to get those ideas flowing again. You know, it’s like a muscle you have to work, and so I’ve been trying to tone it back up and get song ideas again, and it’s starting to trickle in."
