Stephen Colbert had a few hours with former President Barack Obama and took a moment to ask him a few questions that maybe he had never been asked before. One question dealt with Dolly Parton.

Colbert asked, "How does Dolly Parton not have a Presidential Medal of Freedom?" Obama quickly responded saying, "That's a mistake — I'm shocked. That was a screw-up. I'm surprised. I think I assumed that she had already got one, and that was incorrect."

Obama added, "She deserves one. I'll call Biden."

The Presidential Medal of Freedom is an award bestowed by the President of the United States to recognize people who have made "an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavors." Other artists to have been presented with the Presidential Medal Of Freedom include Elvis Presley, Bob Dylan, Loretta Lynn, Stevie Wonder and James Taylor,.

You may remember when Parton was on Colbert's show a few weeks ago, he cried when she started to sing old songs she learned as a child. It's clear he's a huge fan of the country icon.
