The “Star of Bethlehem”, also known as the “Christmas Star” will be visible in the sky tonight on winter solstice! Except, it’s not a star at all, it’s actually Jupiter and Saturn crossing paths.
Jupiter and Saturn do not line up very often. In fact, this will be the closet Jupiter and Saturn have been in hundreds of years and the first to be easily seen in 800 years!
The planets will appear as one bright light in the sky although being 450 miles apart.
The Star of Bethlehem seen by the Three Wise Men is believed by Astronomers to have been created by a similar event more than 2,000 years ago.
The great conjunction will be seen the best an hour after sunset for about an hour.
Miss it, and you’ll need to wait until 2080 to see it again!
