Today is National Take Down Your Christmas Tree Day. If you have a fake tree, it's easy. Step 1: Take it down, Step 2: Put it away. All done!
However, if you have a real tree, it's got to go somewhere! In the City of Philadelphia you can drop it at any of the 6 Sanitation Convenience Centers through January 16th. You can also take part in the Philly Goat Project, and donate the tree so the goats can dine.
If you don't live in the city, or just want other ideas here are a few:
- make firewood out of it.
- mulch
- air fresheners (if the needles are still green)
- use the branches to make coasters
- take the branches and needles and cover garden beds for winter
Whatever you do, do it soon. After all, it is National Take Down Your Christmas Tree Day
