Morgan Wallen is making headlines this week as he tops the Billboard 200 chart with his double album Dangerous for the second week in a row.

In the cover story on Billboard, Morgan explains where part of his wild side comes from. He said that as a preacher's kid he "was supposed to just be the leading example of Christianity. From a child, I was going to do the opposite. I can’t help it. It’s just who I am. Like I’ve got something to prove on my own."

While the new double album has its share of party songs, it also explores his heartbreak. Wallen shared, "So far every relationship that I’ve had, that’s the way it has ended. So I guess it’s just what I know. I need [upbeat] songs for my set, for my energy, but I’m more drawn toward the sad song. I always have been, and I’m better at writing them."

Meanwhile, the success of Dangerous surprised him. “This is absolutely insane. Thank you to the fans for making this one of the best weeks of my life. When we decided to go for it with a double album, I knew we were taking a risk, but I believed in the music and hoped it would be something y’all loved."

He added, "This goes way beyond any of my expectations. I have to thank my family and friends for always believing in me, my team for all of their hard work in putting this project together, and everyone who has supported me along the way."
