Eric Church will be performing the national anthem this Sunday at Super Bowl LV in Tampa, Florida. Church will perform with R&B singer Jazmine Sullivan before the intense match-up between the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The “Super Bowl Kickoff Show” starts at 5 p.m. CST on CBS. The broadcast of the game follows at 5:30 p.m.
The CMA Entertainer of the Year looks at the anthem as a “risk-reward” moment. Tough to execute but worthwhile if they deliver a “redeeming performance,” he said.
“When I heard her, and then I heard the part — I got to play guitar on it — and got to make it a thing,” Church said, “It looked like the right moment from a unity standpoint in what I believe is a country that needs some unifying. It seemed like the right thing to do.
“Now it’s up to us. It’s all execution.”
