Shaquille O’Neal Pays for Stranger’s Engagement Ring in a Random Act of Kindness
NBA Legend Shaquille O’Neal continues to prove he has a heart of gold.
Shaq was recently in an Atlanta jewelry store when he offered to cover a stranger’s engagement ring.
The gesture from the former Laker was caught on video and quickly went viral. Shaq is seen casually taking out his credit card and handing it to the store clerk as the stranger was getting ready to pay. They shook hands and took a picture after.
Shaq talked about the gift during the NBA after show on TNT Tuesday night where he is a sports commentator.
He told his coworkers, “I saw the guy, he was just so shy. He was saying, ‘Hey, how much do I owe to pay off the ring.'”
That’s when Shaq went over and offered to pay for the ring that was on layaway. He said the man was a “young kid, a hardworking guy.” “I said, ‘You know what, tell your girlfriend I got it. Take care of her.’ And at first he didn’t want to take it,” Shaq said. He told the man not to worry, he does it all the time.
“This is something I do every day,” mentioned Shaq. Just the other day he and his mother were furniture shopping when he offered to pay for a mom who had an autistic daughter. “I’m into making people happy. So, whenever I leave the house, I just try to do a good dead,” he said.
