Recipe for My Nana’s Famous Dirt Dessert!
I know you had Dirt Dessert at a family party or work pot luck, but when I tell you this is the best and easiest recipe you’ll ever make, I’m not lying. My Nana started making this probably 30 years ago and every time I make it people are drooling.
1 quart of Vanilla Ice Cream – softened
1-2 packages of Oreos – depending on how many you want to use
2 packages of Instant Chocolate Pudding
1 -to 1 1/2 Cups of Milk – depending on how thick you want it – I like it a little on thinner side
1 container of Cool Whip – softened
1-2 tablespoons of Butter – you’ll melt and mix with crushed Oreos to form crust for bottom.
Whatever kind of gummy candy worm, butterfly, fish you like!
9/13 Pan – or you could even put it in individual cups or even a pot!
Crush packages of Oreos – if you’re using one package, set aside some of the bottom crust + mix that with melted butter. Then save the rest (without the butter) to sprinkle on top.
Mix together 2 packages of instant pudding mix with your milk until smooth – then add in the softened vanilla ice cream – mix together.
Pat Oreo mixture in bottom pan, then pour chocolate mixture over top, place in freezer for an hour or so to harden a bit. Remove from freezer, cover with softened Cool Whip, sprinkle with remaining Oreo crumbs and top with your gummy candy of choice!
