Hug your kids today.
~ Andie Summers
Sometimes life is hard. Especially when you’re a teenager. pressure from school, parents, other kids. Pressure about going to college, going to parties. Thoughts of bad decisions are haunting you – always looming like a dark cloud.
We all go through it, but that doesn’t mean that anyone’s feelings and experiences are any less valid than others.
I would never go back to high school. But that’s the cool thing about life. You never have to. You’re always moving forward, farther away from the bad decisions. There’s always another day to make better choices. And the farther you get from whatever is haunting you – the smaller it becomes. But you don’t come back from suicide. There are no do-overs. No chances to make new memories.
There’s always some to talk to. If you can’t talk to your friends or parents, try your guidance counselor, teachers, neighbors, coach, … Because nothing is more important than your life.
Let me repeat that because it’s important. Nothing is more important than your life. The life you’re living right now.
If you or someone you know is having dark thoughts, call the suicide prevention hotline: 1-800-273-8255 or visit https://afsp.org.
There is help. It can and will get better. You’re not alone. You matter.
