How you hold your mobile phone can say a lot about you according to body language expert Hillie Marshall.

Marshall teamed up with Buymobiles to form a list of the most common device positions and what type of person uses them.

Here's what the list reveals according to the Daily Mail:

  • Assertive= holding the phone with both hands and using both thumbs to text.
    • People who text with both thumbs show that they have no time to waste. They are also likely to work in a very competitive and high demanding work environment where they process many thoughts at once. They are likely to have high levels of energy and have a level of assertiveness and adaptability.
  • Disciplined= holding the phone with both hands but using just one thumb.
    • People who text with one thumb are likely to be disciplined, cautious, initiative and methodical in their life approach. They also have stellar attention to detail and are most likely reliable, astute and down to earth. People will frequently ask them for help since they are good listeners and good judges of character. They will always look below the surface to give practical advice.
  • Confident= holding the phone with one hand and maneuvering with the thumb of the same hand.
    • People who hold their phone in one hand are often a lot more confident, light-hearted and easy-going people. They are energetic and sometimes a little reckless. These people are fun to be around and often take risks that have rewards. They do however have a record of rushing into things without much attention to detail which can sometimes lead to trouble.
  • Attention-seeking= holding your phone horizontally.
    • People who hold their phones horizontally are attention seekers who have high self-importance. They are known for moving around the same location hoping others will interact with them.
  • Creative= holding your phone with one hand and using the index finger of the other hand.
    • People who hold their phone this way are generally apart of the older generation whose thumbs are not as quick anymore. They often have gained knowledge through maturity and do not feel the need to act in haste or rush. They are intuitive, smart and kind but never a pushover. This way of texting also demonstrates a creative, active person with thick skin that can easily bush off others when put-down.
