‘Dancing With the Stars’ judge and professional dancer Julianne Hough just might be the next ‘Bachelorette,’ according to OK!.
The article reveals that ratings for ‘The Bachelorette’ are at an all-time-low, so ABC is considering bringing a celebrity in as their next lead.
“Now that Julianne won’t be returning to ‘Dancing With the Stars’ this fall, they think people would love to see her somewhere else on the network,” an insider told OK!. The source also said Hough “would definitely add some spice to the show,” the outlet reported.
This would be a big switch up for the dating show, causing some speculation that the rumors are inaccurate. Usually, the lead for the upcoming season was previously a contestant from a previous season.
According to Reality Steve, the Bachelor Nation insider, the move would be incredibly unlikely. He wrote that since Hough has dated multiple celebrities’ in the past she probably wouldn’t go on the show to “be set up with Blandy McBlanderstein who’s a bartender and also does some personal fitness on the side.”
Reality Steve went on to write, “The only way this happens is if they blow up this franchise, completely change the concept of the show, and everyone on her season is somewhat famous.”
The two ABC franchises, Bachelor Nation and “Dancing With the Stars”, often do have cast that overlap. The last two “Dancing With the Stars” winners have actually been former “Bachelorettes.”
Radar Online even reported that ex-‘Bachelor’ and ‘Bachelorette’ host Chris Harrison is in talks to be a contestant on the show. The insider told the outlet that “at first Chris thought he was being approached to join the show as a host,” but that wasn’t the case. Instead, he was asked to compete. He was a little upset when he realized Tyra wanted him as a contestant, but after he got over his bruised ego, Chris didn’t say ‘no.’”
