Vin Diesel Begs Dwayne Johnson To Return For ‘Fast & Furious 10’

Author Laila Abuelhawa

Vin Diesel arrives at CTAOP's Night Out 2021: Fast And Furious at Universal Studios Backlot on June 26, 2021 in Universal City, California.Dwayne Johnson attends the World Premiere Of Netflix's "Red Notice" at L.A. LIVE on November 03, 2021 in Los Angeles, California.

Vin Diesel is done feuding with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson… and he’s hoping that the Rock may once again join the Fast & Furious franchise for the final installment.

The 54-year-old actor, who plays Dominic Toretto in the movies, shared an open letter to his former co-star on Instagram yesterday (November 7), offering peace for the greater good.

“My little brother Dwayne… the time has come,” he wrote alongside a picture of the pair facing each other. “The world awaits the finale of Fast 10.”

Diesel went on to say his children still refer to Johnson as “Uncle Dwayne,” despite their highly-publicized feud. “There is not a holiday that goes by that they and you don’t send well wishes…,” he added. “But the time has come. Legacy awaits.”

Johnson, 49, made his debut as federal agent Luke Hobbs in 2011’s Fast Five and reprised his role for the sixth, seventh and eighth installments of the franchise before landing his own spin-off, Hobbs & Shaw.

As we previously reported, the pair’s feud erupted in 2016, during the final weeks of filming 2017’s The Fate Of The Furious when Johnson posted on Instagram slamming unnamed “male co-stars” who were by his standards, “candy a–es.” In the since-deleted post, Johnson wrote, “Some conduct themselves as stand up men and true professionals, while others don’t. The ones that don’t are too chicken s— to do anything about it anyway. Candy a–es. When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I’m not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling—you’re right.”

There was apparently some kind of peace meeting in The Rock’s trailer after his Instagram post, which he shared laughing, “I wouldn’t call it a peaceful meeting. I would call it a meeting of clarity. He and I had a good chat in my trailer, and it was out of that chat that it really became just crystal clear that we are two separate ends of the spectrum. And agreed to leave it there.”

Diesel told Men’s Health in June that The Rock’s performances in the Fast franchise largely came as a result of Diesel’s own “tough love” style of producing. Johnson addressed this claim saying, “I’ve been around the block a lot of times. Unlike him, I did not come from the world of theater. And, you know, I came up differently and was raised differently. And I came from a completely different culture and environment. And I go into every project giving it my all. And if I feel that there’s some things that need to be squared away and handled and taken care of, then I do it. And it’s just that simple. So when I read that, just like everybody else, I laughed. I laughed hard. We all laughed.”

While Johnson went on the record saying he was not going to return to the Fast & Furious series for any future movies, it looks like Diesel is willing to squash the beef so that he may fulfill his promise to the late Paul Walker (whom he refers to as “Pablo” in his Instagram post) to give the franchise a fitting end. Walker starred as Brian O’Conner in the franchise until his death in 2013.

“I swore that we would reach and manifest the best Fast in the finale that is 10,” Diesel continued, in his message to Johnson. “I say this out of love… but you must show up, do not leave the franchise idle you have a very important role to play. Hobbs can’t be played by no other. I hope that you rise to the occasion and fulfill your destiny.”
