New Jersey Will Lift Statewide Mask Mandate in Schools this March
Governor Phil Murphy will officially eliminate the mask mandate for schools during a coronavirus briefing today (February 7). The new policy will go into effect on Monday, March 7.
Students and school employers will no longer have to wear masks in the state of New Jersey. The lifted mandate applies to both schools and childcare settings.
Gov. Murphy did mention during his briefing that those who still want to wear face coverings may do so.
Aides to Governor Murphy told the New York Times that “New Jersey’s policy shift is based on the state’s precipitous drop in new cases and the declining severity of the disease.”
The statewide mask mandate for schools and child care settings will be lifted effective March 7th.
