It was iffy there for a minute, but it looks like most Philadelphia Public Pools will open this year. A nationwide shortage of lifeguards is also hitting the city and it endangered the opening of public pool, but new reports say just 60 more lifeguards are needed, after the city raised the hourly rate to $16 an hour.
Even a Philly grandma is stepping up to help out! Fox 29 has the story of a 70-year-old life-long Philadelphia woman who became a lifeguard at 16 and now will be back on the beat some 54 years later.
