Both Carrie Underwood and Maren Morris paid tribute to a veteran Nashville singer/backup singer who passed away this week. Deborah McCrary and her sisters sang on multiple country music albums and events over their careers.

Born in Nashville, McCrary died on Wednesday (6/1); the McCrary Sisters confirmed in a statement: "It is with deep sorrow that we share the news of the passing of our beloved sister Deborah." No cause of death has been offered. McCrary was 67.

The McCrary sisters sang background vocals on Carrie's "Choctaw County Affair" from Underwood's 2015 album Storyteller.

Carrie posted a photo of her with the sister trio, and she wrote, "I want to take a moment to honor Deborah McCrary…I was blessed to have worked with her on so many occasions. She was always kind…always professional…the anchor in whatever it was we were singing! I know she will be missed by so, so many…Prayers for Deborah's family and friends. See you again someday…"

Maren Morris posted a video clip of the McCrary sister singing "My Church" with her during a 2016 CMA Awards performance on Instagram. She captioned the video, "It is such a loss to Nashville and the entire music industry to lose Deborah McCrary today. I'm praying for her family. I would just like to take a moment to thank @themccrarysisters for singing not only on the album version of My Church but for bringing to life their iconic album vocals to this 2016 @cma performance we did with the @preshallband."

She added, "My heart goes out to you today."
