Queen Elizebeth II recently became the first British monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years of service to the people. The Queen is beloved all over the world and that includes country music.

Not many country stars have been face to face with The Queen, but country icon Dolly Parton has met her majesty. In the 1970s, Dolly was in London to perform at her now-famous "Dolly In London" concert and was granted a "royal meeting."

Dolly told this writer of her time with The Queen, "That was a great moment I thought, it's like I'm not a star worshiper, but as a kid, I was always intrigued by the Kings and Queens, and I always loved the magazines and the books and their costumes and all."

She added, "Of course, they weren't like the old Kings and Queen of the old stories, but it still had that romantic feeling to me to think, 'That's the Queen of England.'"

Dolly Parton Is Always Smiling

Nancy Brooks has been working in the country music industry for almost 30 years. She has interviewed pretty much any country star you can think of. In the late 1990s, she started working with Dolly Parton. And yes, Nancy reports that Parton is as sweet as you would think. She loves her life in country music and has been backstage at every CMA Awards show since the late 1990s. Many of her stories are from her one-on-one interviews. She was there at the beginning of the incredible careers of many music superstars today, including Taylor Swift, Shania Twain, and Blake Shelton, and has interviewed them multiple times throughout the years.
