The Andie Summers Show

Weekdays 5:30AM-10AM

The annual Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest took place in Coney Island, New York City, over the holiday weekend. Hot dog eating legend, Joey “The Jaws” Chestnut returned to this year’s competition on crutches, due to a ruptured tendon in his leg.

The contestants have 10 minutes to stuff their faces with as many hotdogs and buns as possible. In the midst of the competition, a protestor dressed in black and a Darth Vader mask, stormed to the stage, holding up a sign that read “Expose Smithfield’s Death Star.” The activist was most likely protesting against Smithfield Foods, an American pork producer and food-processing factory. He placed himself center-stage next to Chestnut. Joey continued eating hotdogs while simultaneously putting the protester in a chokehold until security pulled him off the stage. Chestnut still managed to gobble down 63 hotdogs, making this year’s competition his 15th win. The runner-up didn’t stand a chance, eating 15 fewer hotdogs than Chestnut. First place in the men’s and women’s divisions receives $10,000. You might take out a protestor, too, if that much money was on the line.

Let me say that again; he ate 63 hotdogs in 10 minutes. That’s one hotdog every 15 seconds. Now that’s impressive! Chestnut won last year’s contest with a total of 76 hotdogs while breaking his record from the previous year by one hotdog.

The Andie Summers Show was asked how many hotdogs do they think they could eat in under 10 minutes. Here are their answers.

Andie: “I think i can eat maybe three because once I eat two I’ll want to throw up and then psychologically I wont be able to eat anymore.”

Jeff: “Whatever Donnie said plus two. I’m really competitive.”

Donnie: “Can Jeff do it while being tickled? Anyway, whatever he said plus three.”

Shannon: “My eyes are bigger than my stomach so I’ll say four. Can I put ketchup on them?”
