It’s Dive Bar Day… Shout Out Your Dive Bar
Wikipedia describes a “dive bar” as a typically a small, unglamorous, eclectic, old-style bar with inexpensive drinks, which may feature dim lighting, shabby or dated decor, neon beer signs, packaged beer sales, cash-only service, and a local clientele.
Who doesn’t love a good ol’ dive bar or a local pub?
Every Friday for Happy Hour, my buddies and I (Donnie) gather together to hang out, drink cheap beer, and watch whatever sporting event is on (golf, baseball, soccer, etc…). It’s called the Firkin Tavern in Ewing, NJ… All the locals know it as “The Firk.”
Garth Brooks & Blake Shelton even made a song about Dive Bars and the video was filmed in Blake Shelton’s Nashville bar called Ole Red. I’m not sure that is considered a dive bar because of the vastness and the popularity but it’s still a great video. Along with the song/music video, Garth did a Dive Bar Tour where he came to a local New Jersey bar called Prospector’s in Mount Laurel. It was literally one of the hardest tickets to get because of the size of the venue. Either way, Garth rocked it and everyone in attendance had a blast especially some XTU staff and XTU listeners.
