Nicole Kidman wants everyone to know that she eats bugs, and enjoys them!
In a resurfaced video from Vanity Fair‘s Secret Talent Theatre, a series showcasing celebrities’ “hidden talents”, Kidman showed off her “exquisite” taste by enjoying a four-course meal of “micro-livestock.”
Kidman’s first course was a plate full of hornworms, which look like large caterpillars with hornlike tails. “Extraordinary,” she says after taking a bite. “Very moist, chewy, can’t quite describe the flavor.”
Next was mealworms, the highest quality insects that birds and reptiles love to feed on. “I’m telling you, I’d win Survivor,” she says after using chopsticks to take a bite. “That is a fruity taste. I recommend it.”
Moving onto the third course, crickets! “Awesome, like nothing you’ve ever tasted,” she used to describe the insect known for its chirp. “Like a hairy nut- a nut from the shell.”
A meal isn’t complete without dessert and for Kidman, it was fried grasshoppers. “These are amazing, these are exquisite.”
According to the United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), more than 2 billion people in the world eat bugs as part of their regular diet. Some of the most popular bugs to eat are beetles, bees, ants, wasps, caterpillars and grasshoppers.

This Oscar winner isn’t the only one eating bugs around here. Not too long ago our very own Andie Summers Show decided to hop on the bandwagon. They played a game called “Chocolate Covered Cicada Roulette.”
