Philadelphia Super Bowl Buzz: AP Writer Picks Eagles to Go All the Way
It’s very early in the season, but the Eagles’ undefeated year is already starting to make NFL analysts look at them to be real Super Bowl contenders.
Philadelphia is currently the only unbeaten team in the NFL after defeating the Jaguars on Sunday (Oct. 2). So, where do the oddsmakers see them as far as Super Bowl contenders?
According to SportsBettingDime.com, the team with the highest probability of winning the upcoming Big Game is the Buffalo Bills, followed by the Kansas City Chiefs and then, yes, the Eagles. Rounding out the top five are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Green Bay Packers, respectively.
Regarding the Eagles, SportsBettingDime.com states, “Perhaps the knock on the Eagles was their soft early schedule. That has to be put to rest as Philly knocked off a very good Jacksonville Jaguars squad 29-21 in a consistent downpour. The Eagles found themselves in a 14-0 hole and didn’t flinch.” They added that, “The defense showed just how much damage they can do, making life miserable for what had been a hot Trevor Lawrence. They held him to 174 yards passing, with two touchdowns and an interception. Lawrence was sacked four times, and fumbled four times, all recovered by the Philly. With odds as high as +4500 in March, the Eagles have climbed to +750 title odds, and are definitely worth considering as a wager.”
Michigan-based Associated Press sports writer Larry Lage spoke with Beasley station WRIF on Detroit’s “The Squad” podcast on Monday (Oct. 3). During the show, he announced his picks for the upcoming Super Bowl. He selected the Eagles to win it all and says he really likes what he sees in all of their games this season. “I’ll go ahead and call a Chargers, Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl with the Eagles winning it all,” Lage said. He added that he “really likes the Eagles.”
