Jim Gardner’s Replacement on 6abc Has Been Officially Named!
It’s so sad to think that in a few weeks we won’t see Jim Gardner on our TV every weekday. Brian Taff is an amazing guy, and we are fortunate he’s been in Philly for a while so he will do a great job stepping into the new role. Jim stepped down from the 11p news almost a year ago, and the legendary Rick Willams has taken over that spot.
Here are the details from 6abc:
It seems almost unthinkable, but longtime 6abc anchor Jim Gardner will deliver his final Action News broadcast later this month. His replacement? Brian Taff. He joined the station in 2009 and currently co-anchors the noon and 4 p.m. newscasts. “He [Gardner] will never be replaced on Action News at 6, but it’s the professional honor of a lifetime to be asked to succeed him. It is an important distinction,” said Taff. “I intend to honor and build upon that legacy with every single word, every single night.” Gardner’s final 6 p.m. newscast is scheduled to take place Wednesday, Dec. 21.
I couldn’t be happier for @briantaff6abc, for his @6abc colleagues, and most importantly for our viewers. Brian is the consummate broadcast journalist. With Brian at 6 and @rickwilliams6 at 11, my hangout spots are in great hands! https://t.co/MVY6eHop9K
