Here Are Pennsylvania’s Most Popular Extreme Sports
When it comes to extreme sports, Pennsylvania has some very specific favorites. The finding comes from StorageCafe.com, which has a list out of the most popular extreme sports in each state.
As for all of America, Skateboarding is the most searched-for extreme sport across the US, according to the study, with 550,000 average monthly searches. “While some of this popularity is due to its utilitarian function as a form of urban micro-transport, skateboarding also had the distinct honor of being included as an Olympic sport in last year’s summer games,” the site states.
Coming in at No. 2 is mountain biking, followed by rock climbing. “Rock climbing is not only in the top three, but interest in it has been shooting up,” the study notes. “Online queries related to rock climbing increased by 83% since October 2021, reaching a monthly average count of 368,000 searches.”
As for Pennsylvania, our picks closely mirror that of the country. The state’s No. 1 extreme sport is mountain biking, followed by skateboarding and rock climbing. I admit that I haven’t tried any of these sports, but if I were to pick one, it would be skateboarding. Cue up “Sk8er Boi,” please.
