If you’re looking to relocate or buy a new home, finding a safe city is important. Pennsylvania, in my opinion, is a beautiful, safe state, but a new study points to one city as being the most dangerous cities in America.
The research comes from NeighborhoodScout.com, which has released its list of the “Top 100 Most Dangerous Cities in the U.S. for 2023.” The study is based on the number of violent crimes per 1,000 residents. If you’re wondering, violent crimes include rape, armed robbery and aggravated assault in this research. In the study, the outlet factored in the number of violent crimes reported to have occurred in each city and the population of each city. The study also uses the latest data available, which represents the calendar year 2021 and was released in October 2022.
The most dangerous city in all of America, according to the study, is Bessemer, Alabama. It was No. 2 last year and took the top spot in 2023, pushing out Monroe, Louisiana. It’s also worth noting that this list features 10 new cities, meaning, “many of the dangerous cities on the list this year have appeared on past lists,” they state.
So, what’s the most dangerous city in Pennsylvania? Chester, which came in at No. 27 on the list. The violent crime rate per 1,000 residents in Chester is 14.5. Also, the chance of being a victim in Chester is one in 68. One more Pennsylvania city made the list, too: York at No. 69.
