Steps in the frozen blue pool ice-hole
I am the person who loves a polar plunge. I did it twice and it was awesome and alot crazy. Now you can do it too.
Here are the details from PhillyVoice:
The city has struggled to staff its public swimming pools in recent years. The Philly Phreeze fundraiser will pay for new recruitment incentives. Participants are asked to solicit donations for their willingness to take a jump or dive into the cold water. Those who raise $50 will get a Philly Phreeze T-shirt. At $100, the prize becomes a T-shirt and a cooler. People who raise $250 will receive the T-shirt, cooler and a beach towel. The Miracle On Ice Happened 43 Years Ago
Do you believe in miracles? Well… On February 22, 1980 in Lake Placid, NY… A miracle happened.
The USSR Hockey team were the best team ever assembled winning the gold medal in five of the six previous Winter Olympic Games. They were the favorite to easily win the gold in 1980.
The USA Hockey Team was comprised of college kids who just wanted to play more hockey in their off-season. They were not expected to win anything, not even a medal.
On February 9th, the USA hockey team played the Soviet hockey team in an exhibition at Madison Square Garden where the Soviets dominated the Americans 10-3. This was exactly what everyone thought would happen if they played each other.
Well, the Americans played their hearts out in their Group Play and advanced to the medal round where they once again had to play the Soviets. Well, here we are.
A movie has been made about this game, it’s the greatest American sports victory of all-time, it’s the biggest upset in sports history, it might be the greatest sports story ever! Take a look below at some of the biggest moments from the “Miracle On Ice” game.
