Philadelphia Eagles Submit Interesting Proposal to the NFL
It’s the off-season for the NFL, but there’s always a lot of news, especially for Philadelphia Eagles fans.
The Eagles came so close to going all the way last season, so we’re already raring to go for the upcoming season. How many months until September?
According to The Athletic, the Philadelphia Eagles have submitted a proposal to the NFL’s competition committee to actually let players to wear the No. 0. I honestly think it would be cool to get the No. 0, if I were a football player. It’s so unique.
In their reasoning, the Eagles cited the lack of available numbers in the single digits. Plus, the No. 5 is retired for former quarterback Donovan McNabb. Also, Nos. 1-8 are being bused following the NFL lightening its restrictions in 2021, letting running backs, wide receivers, tight ends, linebackers and defensive backs use those numbers.
The No. 0 has actually been a thing in the NFL. The last player in the NFL to wear the No. 0 was former New Orleans Saints safety Obert Logan back in 1967. Also, former Houston Oilers wide receiver Ken Burrough (1970-81) was the last to wear the No. 00. Time will tell if the NFL lets the Eagles start using the No. 0. If they do, it will be interesting to see which player gets the lucky nummber.
