Garth Brooks: ‘The GOAT May Be A Female’
Garth Brooks will co-host the upcoming 58th ACM Awards with music icon Dolly Parton. The Academy of Country Music Awards will take place on Thursday, May 11, at 8 p.m. ET. The show will stream on Prime Video from Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas.
Garth talked about the pairing on his Studio G this week, saying, “You talk about a dream to work with! She’s just the ultimate professional.” He added that on his first award show hosting gig, Dolly is the perfect co-host, “If you’re going to do a first time – and maybe an only time – Dolly Parton is a pretty good choice to do it with.”
Brooks noted, referring to the title often used for those considered the “greatest of all time,” “We always talk about ‘The GOAT. People, I’m telling you – the GOAT may be a female. You talk about writing; you talk about entertaining, playing, musicianship; you talk about records; you talk about awards, performances… And then you talk about time. This woman has been this woman for decades! And it doesn’t get old! I don’t know how she does that!”

When the ACM announced the hosting pairing last week, Dolly said in a statement, “I am thrilled to return to host the ACM Awards, this time with my friend Garth. While I’ve had the pleasure of spending time with him throughout the years, I can’t believe we’ve never had the chance to work together. In addition to getting to see all this great new talent in country music, I am excited to have the chance to premiere the lead single from my upcoming rock album on the show!”
Brooks said, “Anyone with Dolly Parton makes a fantastic couple.”
