Ashley McBryde Sticks With ‘The Devil I Know’
Ashley McBryde has released a new song from her upcoming album, which is still to be announced. The new song is called “The Devil I Know.”
Ashley said in a statement about the new tune, “We’re always hearing something from somebody who thinks they know what’s best for us. Lose weight; your hair’s too curly, change this, change that. Things just seem to go better when you trust your own lens to see what’s good for you.”
Written by McBryde with Jeremy Stover and Bobby Pinson, “The Devil I Know” includes the lyrics, “Momma says get my ass my to church / Daddy says get my ass to work / Doctor says I gotta give up on these smokes / Everybody’s got something to say / About how I gotta change my ways / Well, I got something to say of my own / Hell, there’s hell everywhere I go / So I’m sticking with the devil I know.”
Earlier this week, the CMT Music Awards saw her join Wynonna for a performance of Foreigner’s 1984 hit “I Want to Know What Love Is.”
Next week, McBryde will return to the Grand Ole Opry before heading back out on the road throughout the spring and summer for a slew of headlining shows and tour dates with Eric Church and Jelly Roll.

In January, Ashley released the video for her fun song “Brenda Put Your Bra On,” which features collaborators Pillbox Patti and Caylee Hammack.
McBryde told us of the new video, “As soon as we recorded this song, we knew we wanted to make a video for it. It’s the start of the action in Lindeville. There were a lot of ways we could have shot the video, yet Reid (the director Reid Long) had the idea to capture all the insanity and drama in one continuous take, which feels very in tune with the spirit of this entire project… how Lindeville of us!”
