Fabulous Duct Tape Suit Wins Student $10,000
This was part of Duck Brand’s annual “Stuck At Prom” scholarship contest and one incredible duct tape suit came up on top. Man is it impressive! We had to make it today’s Cup o’ Joy story.
Look how freakin’ cool this suit is, completely made out of duct tape. Ian Hernandez Rojas is honoring his roots by creating and rocking this amazing duct tape suit to his prom.
How To Make A Suit Out Of Duct Tape
That’s my first question, how in the world did someone, yet alone a teenager, make this?? He’s now a winner of a $10,000 scholarship after beating out nearly 200 contestants across the country and Canada.
This according to FOX 13 Now.
His Mayan-inspired tuxedo pays homage to his El Salvadorian roots. The tux took the teen over 60 hours and around 15 rolls of Duck Tape to complete. He also used other materials in the design like old clothes, wire, and cardboard.
Rojas could hardly believe it when he heard he’d won the top prize.
“When I found I was so overwhelmed with joy that I stood up and cried!”
Here was the contest that Ian and so many others entered in to win!
College Scholarships For Students
That’s what this is all about is giving students an opportunity to study after high school. The reality is that college has become more and more expensive over the years so it’s not wonder why Ian was so happy.
More from Fox 13 Now.
“When I found I was so overwhelmed with joy that I stood up and cried. I actually missed the call because I was at BYU for a camp and later saw a voicemail. I was waiting for a class to start when I checked it. I was so shocked by how fast they got back to me.”
Pretty special, maybe your kiddo can enter next year! Good luck to all.
