‘World’s Largest Tailgate’ to Take Place Before NFL Season Opener
The start of the NFL regular season is looming. I’m so ready to cheer on the Philadelphia Eagles and my other team, the Detroit Lions. The first official game of the season will feature the Kansas City Chiefs taking on the Detroit Lions on Sept. 7. Now, the Chiefs are inviting fans to take part in “The World’s Largest Tailgate.” The event will take place right before the 2023 NFL Kickoff Game at Arrowhead Stadium. The team promises a huge party, sponsored by Bud Light.
World’s Largest Tailgate:
So, what is the “World’s Largest Tailgate?” According to a press release, it’s “A virtual tailgate and concert experience hosted live from the Ford Tailgate District outside GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium and streamed to mobile devices, living rooms, restaurants, bars and fan clubs in Chiefs Kingdom and around the globe.”
Kansas City natives and YouTube stars, the Merrell Twins, will host the party. The event will also offer live entertainment from Two Friends. In addition, expect segments and appearances with Saturday Night Live’s Heidi Gardner, influencer Tabitha Swatosh and Donna ‘Mama’ Kelce. Some big Kansas City Chief players and other special guests will also be there.
“Chiefs Kingdom is wherever you are, and the World’s Largest Tailgate is one way we can unite people in Kansas City, around the country and throughout the world around the fact that NFL football is back in a big way,” Chiefs President Mark Donovan said in a statement. Donovan added, “We are incredibly proud of our football team, our fans and our tailgating culture, and we’re certain that we’ll be exporting a special look at GEHA Field at Arrowhead and the Chiefs through this unique music and entertainment experience.”
The event will start at 4:30 p.m. and run for 90 minutes. If you’d like to attend the virial show, head to this website and reserve a virtual seat. Those who are actually going to the game can view the festivities inside the Ford Tailgate District. Spots will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. There’s lots of buzz about the Chiefs, who have a No. 1 quarterback in Patrick Mahomes, but there’s also lots of buzz around the Eagles’ Jalen Hurts. These two teams will meet on Nov. 20 at the Chiefs, in what should be a great game.
