Luke Bryan Recalls Job That Would Turn His Hair Green

Luke Bryan may be on top of his game as a country superstar and has a job playing to thousands of screaming fans each night, but that wasn't always the case. As we get into Labor weekend, Luke told us about some of his jobs before music became his occupation.

He said, "At age 12 through 13, I worked at Rubos IGA Supermarket in Leesburg, GA. I worked during the summer on Monday and Tuesday. I stocked and cleaned up the produce. They paid me under the table…I peeled off all of the brown lettuce."

Bryan recalled another job as a teen, saying, "Let's see, when I was 15, I was a cashier at K-Mart for two months. I worked at K-Mart for two months, and then I reverted back to Rubos because it didn't really make sense for me to drive all the way into Albany and work for K-Mart. The benefits were great, though- you'd get an hour-long on the blue light special."

After he quit the grocery store, Luke had a more challenging job closer to home. He recalled, "I worked for my Dad-just awful just driving tractors through cotton all day and spraying pesticides that eventually would turn your hair green. And then, at some point, I started playing guitar. And well, after college, I went back and worked for my dad and continued to spray and haul fertilizer around. And then I moved to Nashville."

Bryan recently released a new song, "Southern and Slow," across all digital platforms. "Southern and Slow" will be released on his forthcoming album.

Luke said of the new tune, "'Southern and Slow' reflects on simple times. Those picture-perfect moments like the sun setting behind a water tower, honey dripping off a spoon, well, it doesn't get much countrier than that."

He added, "Let's slow it down southern style because this life seems to be moving faster than ever."

Bryan's current radio single, "But I Got A Beer In My Hand," is the follow-up single to his 30th career #1, "Country On."
