Frasier Has “Re-Entered” the Building
Paramount+ gives us a first look at the upcoming Paramount+ original series FRASIER. Kelsey Grammer is back to reprise his EmmyⓇ– Award-winning role as Frasier Crane.
The 10-episode season premieres on Thursday, October 12 with not one, but two episodes! After that, new episodes will come out weekly on Thursdays, exclusively on Paramount+. And if you miss the premiere, CBS will broadcast a special airing of the first two episodes back to back on Tuesday, October 17, beginning at 9:15 PM (following a super-sized original episode of Big Brother).
The new series follows Frasier Crane (Grammer) in the next chapter of his life as he leaves Seattle and returns to Boston, where, if you remember, we first met the doctor on a barstool in Cheers. The idea is that Dr. Crane wants to reconnect with his son Freddie who seems to be gobsmacked by the reappearance of his father.
If you remember the original FRASIER …
You remember the character Roz Doyle, Dr. Frasier Crane’s producer of his radio talk show. Roz was played by Peri Gilpin who is the daughter of beloved Philadelphia weather reporter Jim O’Brien who was tragically killed in a skydiving accident.
FRASIER comes from writers Chris Harris, who also wrote How I Met Your Mother, and Joe Cristalli who is responsible for Life in Pieces. They also executive produce with Kelsey Grammer, Tom Russo, and Jordan McMahon.
The first two episodes of the new series are directed by legendary director and television creator James Burrows, who is best known for his work as co-creator, executive producer, and director of the critically acclaimed series Cheers, as well as the original series Frasier, Will & Grace, and Dear John. If you listen to the Smartless podcast with Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, and Sean Hayes, you have heard plenty of accolades about “Jimmy Burrows.
This fall marks 30 years since the original Frasier first premiered on television, which still holds the record for most Emmy wins for a comedy series with 37 wins and 107 nominations. And if you want to catch up, the original series is available to stream on Paramount+ and Pluto TV.
