Scotty McCreery Helps Philadelphia Couple Marry On Leap Day

It is a day that only comes around once every four years so we had to do something special. This year Scotty McCreery helped a Philadelphia couple get married on Leap Day, February 29, 2024.

Everyone at 92.5 XTU turned into wedding coordinators for the day. We had never thrown a wedding before, but thought, how hard could it be, right? Thankfully, we had a lot of help.

Some of the crew have had their own weddings, and the rest of us had watched enough romantic comedies to be able to figure it out.

It helped that XTU Nation assisted us in picking the lucky couple who would be getting married in our “Take The Leap” with a Leap Day Wedding contest. After weeks of voting, Lisa and Kevin were crowned the winners.

We've been together 4 years and have a beautifully blended family. He has an 11-year-old daughter, I have twin girls that are 8 years old, and together we have an almost 2-year-old daughter. We got together through my best friend who happened to be his orthodontist at the time. She gave him my contact info and here we are over four years later! He told me he was going to marry me one day and he knew what our wedding song would be. Turns out that song is Scotty McCreery's "This is It." He said whenever he hears it he can see us dancing at our wedding.

Lisa and Kevin were so cool, fun, and laid back! They were all in and let us handle the details.

The couple has a beautiful blended family and their four daughters walked down the aisle before their parents spreading rose petals as the flower girls. Lisa was a stunning bride and Kevin was very handsome in his suit.

Jeff, who is an ordained minister, from The Andie Summers Morning Show married the lucky couple.

Lisa is a teacher and works with kids who are deaf and hard of hearing and is also fluent in sign language. Jeff knew he wanted to incorporate that into their ceremony. Since sign language is not a direct translation, it's an interpretation, Jeff interpreted Scotty's song into a beautiful message. He signed, "Cherish this. This is forever. And Forever starts now."

The couple exchanged vows and rings and once they were announced "husband and wife" Scotty McCreery took the stage to sing their wedding song as they danced as a newly married couple. Turns out Kevin can see into the future.

It all went down on February 29th, 2024. Our own Jeff Kurkjian from The Andie Summers Show is a marriage officiant and made it all official on the stage of our X Lounge.

The winner of the tenth season of American Idol came to the XTU studios to perform at the wedding. Scotty McCreery also played a show that night at The Met for his Cab in a Solo Tour. Scotty is popular for his songs like You Time, Damn Strait, Five More Minutes, and This Is It. Check out McCreery’s new song, Can’t Pass the Bar, here.

These two had far and away the most votes of XTU Nation both because of their family support but also their story is just so beautiful. Between them, they have four girls (say a prayer for Kevin). Their blended family is something is so beautiful, you can see it in the First Look video below.

XTU Nation voted for their favorite couple to be wed on Leap Day in the XTU Studios. The Andie Summers Show surprised the winning couple with a congratulatory phone call and they could not have been more excited! Tears were definitely shed!  Listen to the phone call below!

Of course, this has to be one of the best if not THE best moment of the wedding. For Lisa and Kevin, in their original letter, they said that "This Is It" would be their first dance song no matter what! So imagine their surprise when they heard about this opportunity from XTU, that Scotty will sing their FIRST DANCE. So so special.

As mentioned before, Kevin and Lisa have four girls between the both of them. They were all dressed in matching red and wanted to be a part of the big day. Their oldest, Gianna, was responsible for the rings. The twin girls, Leanne and Daphne, were bridesmaids. Their smallest one, Emerson, was the adorable flower girl!

Let me tell you... Lisa and Kevin's friends and family know how to have a good time!! We had a blast hanging out with all of them. They are definitely the kind of group that you would want to hang out with at a wedding. In fact, Lisa set it up to have Kevin's best friend with him knowing, so that was an awesome surprise. Whiskey and champagne were had thanks to 1720 Bar & Restaurant, a great time was had by all!

We here at XTU have the best team in radio. We are "small but mighty" as our boss describes us. You know The Andie Summers Show With Jeff Kurkjian, Donnie and Shannon and then of course, Razz and Nicole. We are the ones you hear from every single day on your radio.
