Cody Johnson Sang The National Anthem Flawlessly
Cody Johnson showed us all this week that The National Anthem at a baseball game can be sung with style and grace, and he did just that at the MLB All-Star Game in Arlington, Texas.
The native Texan wore a beige blazer and removed his cowboy hat in respect before he sang the song simply yet flawlessly.
MLB and Cody posted the performance on Instagram, and fans were thrilled with his performance. One fan wrote, “Might have been the best version ever.” Another fan commented, “CoJo taking the field. Killed it.” One more fan said, “That’s how you do it!!” One die-hard gushed, “Now this is how the National Anthem is sung. @codyjohnson pure, heartfelt and sincere.”
Even more, fans praised the country star; one fan said, “I don’t follow baseball, but I turned it on strictly to watch and listen to the best Patriot, Texan, Cowboy, and Musician out there. You represented the great state of Texas extremely well, as I knew you would.”

Johnson is deep into his summer headlining “Leather Tour,” where he will be playing in indoor and outdoor venues.
Cody told us that while each has its own character, as long as there’s a crowd, he’ll be ready to go. He said, “I think indoor versus outdoor shows has its own special thing about them. There’s a certain element to the sound indoors, but you know I grew up playing independent music here in Texas, where every festival season you lose 10 pounds cause you sweat out so much on stage, and it’s hot, and it’s miserable, but it’s hot and miserable for those fans too, and they stand out there in it.”
He added, “I think there’s something special about standing out there and sweating your butt off and be in there at the concert all day for these festivals. I think each one of them has their own things that bands love each one of them has their own energy. I really don’t care, either way for me.”
