I’m just a humble radio station employee in Philadelphia, but over the past two years, I’ve grown to love and adore this man.
A bit about me: I moved to Philly from Tampa, Florida, in February 2023. I was born in Cape May Courthouse but moved to the Sunshine State at a young age with my father, who’s from Media, PA, and my mother, from Pittsburgh, PA. I’ve always followed the Eagles (and yes, the Steelers) while living in Florida, cheering for both Pennsylvania teams in big games. As a football fan, I knew of Jason and Travis Kelce and had listened to their podcast, New Heights.
Fast forward to today. When the Kelce documentary was released, I watched it immediately and cried my eyes out. I rewatch it about once a month since its release. It’s an amazing portrait of a man coming to grips with his mortality, incredibly moving.
I was fortunate enough to watch Jason Kelce regularly as the center for the Philadelphia Eagles for one season, which turned out to be his last. I even bought a Jason Kelce kelly green jersey last year. Needless to say, I’m one of Jason Kelce’s biggest fans, not just for the player he was on the field, but for the person he is in everyday life.
Many of these highlights come from what we see of Jason Kelce in public or what he chooses to share with us. Something tells me he’s just as genuine behind closed doors, thanks to his authentic spirit.
Reasons Why Jason Kelce Is A National Treasure
He Can Rock A "South Philly Tuxedo"

It takes a special kind of man to be able to pull off a "South Philly Tuxedo" and Jason Kelce is that man.
His first week on Monday Night Countdown, he forgot his suit and had to buy a shirt that was a bit too small for him.
The second week Big Dom from the Eagles, hooked him up with a beauty of a green velour tracksuit, aka a "South Philly Tuxedo.".
I can't wait to watch Monday Night Countdown every week to see what Jason has in store for us. Also, let us not forget the dance moves!
The Mascot Of Underdogs

I feel like all I need to put here is that photo above. Kelce, dressed in full Mummers regalia, gave a legendary speech on the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art after winning Super Bowl LVII. The words of his speech are still quoted today and will be referenced for generations of Eagles fans to come. "Hungry dogs run faster."
The Ultimate Girl Dad & Family Man

This man loves his mama, his wife, and his girls. It was apparent in the Kelce documentary. I especially love when he says "girly" when he talks to his daughters.
He Can, And Will, Do Anything. Plus, The Camera Loves Him

This photo is from Wrestlemania in Philadelphia after he retired from the NFL. When given the chance, it seems this man will do and try anything. Over the summer he even arm-wrestled USA Rugby Athlete Nicole Heavirland while he was at the Olympics.
Besides seeming to have no fear or ego, he is a great actor and maybe even a good director!
He Is Emotionally Intelligent

You could see it on the field, in his documentary, during his Super Bowl loss to his brother, at his retirement press conference, and on his podcast. Jason Kelce is unafraid to be in the moment and express his emotions. Not many people, men or women, can do this, and I applaud him for showing that side of himself. You can tell he feels and loves deeply, and I believe we need more of that, especially from men in traditionally masculine professions.
Wanting To Help Others
I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the incredible charity work Jason Kelce does (at least the parts we know about). He came up with the brilliant idea to gather a bunch of Eagles players to create a Christmas album, and it turned out to be a fantastic success.
7 Eagles Players Who Paid Emotional Tribute to Jason Kelce After Announcing Retirement
A tough day for many. 7 Eagles players who paid emotional tribute to Jason Kelce after announcing retirement from the NFL. After 13 seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, Jason Kelce has played with a large amount of NFL players. Every season there is a large turnover rate with players coming and going. Needless to say, Jason has had an impact and friendship with many of his former teammates.
I have to admit I am surprised there weren't more current and former players who posted about his retirement. Jalen Hurts only posted an Instagram story. As did Brandon Graham, Jake Elliott, and Malcolm Jenkins. There was nothing from Nick Foles, AJ Brown, Devonta Smith, Jordan Mailata, and Fletcher Cox. Now I know they probably knew in advance, probably already talked to him in person, especially because Jason was still working out at the Novacare complex, but I do think it's strange more former teammates posted about him than current ones.
There are rumors that Fletcher Cox is also going to retire, so maybe it's a hard subject for him right now. I also can't help but think there could be a tinge of jealousy that Jason had so much fanfare. Jason did not only so much for the city, he is a Hall of Fame player as well. Obviously the New Heights podcast with Travis and the Amazon documentary and, well, Taylor Swift made him way more famous, but his personality, work ethic, and who he is made him so likable to not only people in this country but across the world.
Clearly, Jason had an impact on so many teammates over the years, maybe wanted to make sure he felt the love on this emotional day that really will change the franchise forever. The good thing is that Jason lives in Philadelphia, he said numerous times he plans to stay here, and I have a feeling between the podcast and TV, we'll see him more now than ever before.
Miles Sanders
Miles spent numerous seasons with Jason and even went to the Super Bowl together. Needless to say, we fell short to the Chiefs, but Jason and Miles had one of the best touchdown celebrations of all time. Miles played for the Panthers last season, but you can tell the bond he and Jason had. Teammates forever.

Brandon Brooks
Brandon was a star offensive lineman alongside Jason and they won the Super Bowl together in 2018. Brandon also had a pro-bowl career and he has said how much Jason helped him as a player and a friend. You can tell the OL over the past few years had a bond like no other. "Love you bro!"
Darius Slay
Big play Slay showed a lot of love to Jason yesterday. Slay plays on the defense and still has so much love to share for Jason. A lot of times offense and defense don't interact that much because of meetings, practice, etc, but you can tell how much Slay and Jason bonded being on the Eagles together over the last few seasons.
Lane Johnson
We know Jason and Lane are close on and off the field. They talk about each other all the time and Lane has said Jason helped him so much with his mental health. Jason was the one who was there when Lane was nominated for Walter Peyton Man of the Year last season. Not to mention Lane has been an important part of the Christmas albums Jason did over the last two seasons.
Carson Wentz
This honestly was so surprising and very touching. Carson Wentz posted a very touching tribute to Jason right after he announced his retirement. The QB and Center are such a huge part of each other's game that it's not surprising they had a special bond. Carson played the best career of his life with Jason under center and it was so nice to see those memories of that incredible season.
Michael Vick
Michael Vick only played for the Eagles for a short time but still made a bond with Jason that is clearly special. For him to write this very heartfelt post is really telling of not only how good of a person Jason Kelce is, but how great of a player he is as well.
Zach Ertz
This made me tear up. Jason and Zach clearly have a very special bond. Jason even mentioned Zach a few times in his retirement speech. And let's not forget when both of them dyed their hair bleach blonde, which actually looked good on both of them. They won a Super Bowl together and are two of the most beloved Eagles of all time. Their friendship is clearly special.
